Lionmark Construction Companies Workforce Development Scholarship

General Description

The Lionmark Construction Companies Workforce Development Scholarship awards one $10,000 scholarship over two years to an individual pursuing an Associate of Applied Science Degree or Certificate at State Technical College of Missouri (other post-secondary schools may be considered at the sole discretion of the Selection Committee) in the following programs:

  • Civil Construction Technology
  • Civil Engineering Technology
  • General Technology (including MFA Program)
  • Heavy Equipment Operations
  • Heavy Equipment Technology
  • Medium/Heavy Truck Technology

In addition to fulfilling scholarship criteria, consideration is based on availability of funds.

Eligibility Requirements

A. Applicant should be enrolled as a full-time (12 hours minimum per semester), first year student.

B. Applicants should be graduating from one of the following High Schools (other High Schools may be considered at the sole discretion of the Selection Committee):

  • Advance High School – Advance, MO
  • Alton High – Alton, MO
  • Couch High School – Couch, MO
  • Doniphan High School – Doniphan, MO
  • Dora High School – Dora, MO
  • East Carter R-II High School – Elsinore, MO
  • Houston High – Houston, MO
  • Koshkonong High – Koshkonong, MO
  • Licking High – Licking, MO
  • Liberty Senior High – Mountain View, MO
  • Naylor High School – Naylor, MO
  • Puxico High School – Puxico, MO
  • Thayer Senior High – Thayer, MO
  • West Plains Senior High – West Plains, MO
  • Willow Springs High – Willow Springs, MO
  • Woodland R-IV High School – Marble Hill, MO  

C. Applicant should have a high school GPA of at least 2.5 upon graduation.

D. Applicant MUST be a U.S. citizen or documented permanent resident of the United States (i.e. must possess a “permanent resident” card).

Selection And Award Of Scholarship

A. Selection Criteria

To be considered, applicants must forward a complete application packet by the scholarship application deadline.

The criteria used to evaluate applications for award will be based upon the following:

  • Financial Need
    • Academic Achievement
    • Work-Ethic
    • Leadership Skills
    • Ambition demonstrated through Personal Goal Statement

In the event a student is unable to fulfill the requirement of full-time enrollment for the fall semester in the year the scholarship is awarded, the scholarship will be transferred to the next available alternate.

B. Scholarship Award

Award is contingent upon proof of acceptance to an approved post-secondary institution.

This scholarship is awarded in two installments of $5,000 each year ($10,000 total) for tuition, fees, books, tools, room, board, and/or other costs associated with the recipient’s education.

  • The first installment of $5,000 will be dispersed the fall semester in the year the scholarship is awarded.
    • The second installment of $5,000 will be dispersed the second year, first semester, contingent upon the recipient meeting scholarship criteria.

The sponsor/donor can increase, decrease, eliminate, or skip an annual contribution at any time based on personal circumstances.

Selection Committee

Qualified applicants will be selected by the selection committee comprised of members from Lionmark Construction Companies.

Application Packet

Deadline for application to assure consideration for the upcoming academic year is March 15.  Please complete the online Scholarship Application.

Expectations of the Scholarship Recipient

A. Upon accepting the scholarship, the student agrees to remain enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 college credit hours), attend classes regularly, model appropriate behavior, and maintain satisfactory academic standing (including, but not limited to a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher).

B. Upon accepting the scholarship, the student agrees to complete a summer internship with one of Lionmark Construction Companies’ holdings between the first and second year of the student’s tenure.

C. Upon accepting the scholarship, the student agrees to work for one of Lionmark Construction Companies’ subsidiaries for a minimum of two years post-graduation. 

D. Release of Information

  • In submitting the application, the applicant grants authority for release of information contained in the application packet and to contact character references to Lionmark Construction Companies LLC.
  • This includes the right to promote and publicize the scholarship and recipient(s).

D. If selected the recipient agrees to participate in ceremonies hosted to honor scholarship winners if applicable.
